Lexus today issued a sneak peak at its new Premium Compact Concept ready to make its public debut at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show in mid-September.Think BMW 1-series by Lexus, and you'll get the idea. Not that you'd know too much from the solitary teaser sketch released today.Details are vague at present, with only the above sketch and no technical information available to showcase the long-awaited little Lexus. Expect more details and pictures to be announced in a few weeks' time – but we hear there is likely to be hybrid power for the compact premium car.

Star of the silver screen Leonardo DiCaprio has launched his own racing team. Called Venturi Automobiles, the new motorsport outfit will campaign a single-seater racing car in the first season of the Formula E all-electric championship next year. Following on from a front three-quarter sketch released to the press last week, Lexus has given us a good view of its Premium Compact Concept from the rear - along with its proper name: LF-Ch. Equipped with Lexus's Hybrid Drive system, this BMW 1 Series rival will be able to run on both electric and gasoline when it goes on sale in 2010. The car's full volumes, raked-back windscreen and aggressive new variation on Lexus's corporate nose are visible from the sketch, while the new rear image confirms that the newcomer will combine the looks of a coupe with the practicality of four doors.
